We have all seen Lord Vishnu lying on Sheshnaag. Have you ever seen him sitting on Sheshnaag? In the cave temples of Badami he does, carved about 1,450 years ago.

The steps, floor, columns, roof and covered passages were all cut from one hill, ek hee pahaad ko kaat kar, taraash kar, with the tools of that time. People travel to Jordan to see the rock-cut city of Petra because they do not know about Badami. The caves were damaged by invaders and are now protected by the government.
