Mount Kailash

One mountain, four religions

Mount Kailash
Mount Kailash

Mount Kailash is sacred to Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and followers of Bon, around 23% of the world's population. It is the abode of Lord Shiva, and Emperor Bharat, after whom India is called Bharatvarsh, is said to have attained nirvana here.

The wonder: for thousands of years rishis and sadhus have made the journey, knowing its geography, routes and snow conditions without any modern scientific instruments.

Shown with the author's rare photographs of Kailash, first shared as a New Year greeting. Jai Bhole Baba ki, Bum Bum Bhole.
