In the open courtyard of the Qutb Minar complex stands an iron pillar. It has stood in sun and rain for well over a thousand years, and it has not rusted. It puzzled every ruler who saw it after, from the Sultans to the British.
The pillar carries an inscription in praise of a king named Chandra, who conquered the Vanga country and crossed the seven mouths of the Sindhu, and who set the pillar up as a standard of Lord Vishnu on a hill called Vishnupada. Read the Hindi and English translations on the plaques beside it, and be proud of the metallurgy of your ancestors.
