The Pandavas asked for five villages to found their city: Tilpat, Khandavpat (later Indraprastha), Sonipat, Panipat and Baghpat. While they built the fort at Khandavpat, obstacle after obstacle came up. Lord Krishna advised that Baba Bhairon Nath of Kashi, a gana of Lord Shiva, would remove them. Bhim went to Kashi, brought Baba here and established this temple, and Indraprastha was completed.

Today devotees offer whiskey to Baba along with other offerings, especially on Sundays, and it is given back as prasad.
